When you enter the world of rock n roll in locker 17, you will enter a world full of fascinating characters including:
Steven White: Do you remember the kid in your high school class who didn’t fit in and didn’t seem to care? Steven is that kid. While everybody else embraces whatever song is hot that week, Steven listens to oldies, and shops at thrift stores in hopes of finding anything relating to his idol Ricky Stevenson. When he is not at school or scooping out the local thrift store scene for a copy of Summertime Baby! with it’s original cover (it’s worth thousands–so keep your eyes open), Steven can usually be found working his after school job at the Delacourte Indiana Stor’N’More storage rental facility conveniently located in his backyard.
Jeanne White: Jeanne is a genetic anomaly. She gets good grades effortlessly, which bothers her underachieving brother to no end. (Who can blame him really?) When not sucking up to her teacher’s parents or the world at large, Jeanne’s main hobbies include being constantly underfoot and pestering her sibling at every inopportune moment possible.
Jack White: Jack is a middle aged entrepreneur, he’s a bit overweight and always has a bit of unwanted advice ready to lob towards his children. Jack is a man about town whose hangouts include such hotspots as Wilton’s hardware, Jay’s Family style buffet, and The Delacourte Confectionary Company. To most residents of this little city he is simply that guy you make small talk with, until he flashes his smile and suddenly middle-aged women are like putty in his hands; even uptight types can’t resist it.
Ellen White: Thin and pretty, with chestnut brown hair, Ellen is an agreeable woman. She is usually willing to put up with a house on the wrong end of town, long lines of irritated university students, an underachieving son, a daughter with expensive taste in clothing, and a husband who refuses to follow her dietary advice.
Joey Hertz: Have Ever had one of those friends who just get on your nerves constantly? The type of person who is always razzing you about whatever you hold dear? Yep, that would be Joey Hertz. Joey instantly knows all the buttons to push on every person he meets, He relishes the torture of relatives, teachers, and even his friends. If you are a fan of a missing rock star from the 1960’s don’t tell Joey. Trust me on this, if you do you will live to regret it
Stuart Meely: Stuart is by far the geekiest member of Steven’s circle of friends. He is the sort of kid who will pick his nose then wipe it on his shirt when he thinks no one is looking. Steven constantly wonders why the heck he is still friends with Stuart, but let’s face the facts, when standing next to Stuart almost anyone else looks cool.
Greg Lewis: Steven never met anyone with his taste for the vintage lifestyle until Greg moved to town. Since his family is in the antique business, Greg knows all about vintage clothes records, and kitsch. Although he has the magical knack for making friends with almost anyone Greg mysteriously stays loyal to Steven and his crowd of popularity challenged friends.
Wendy Summers: Despite the fact that she was born the year he died, Wendy had the unusual distinction of being Delacourte High’s only Elvis Presley fan. Although most of her loyalties lay with the King himself, Wendy holds appreciation for other celebrities of the era including Ricky Stevenson. It’s Wendy who first notices Steven’s resemblance to the missing star.
Dave and Rob McIntyre: Dave and Steve have been friends since the first grade. When the inevitable attack by Joey comes, Dave is usually there to defend his friend. Dave’s older brother Rob had a room full of blacklite posters and a band that was always practicing for the upcoming Battle of the Bands. Steve has wasted many a day sitting on the hood of Rob’s Gremlin and watching an impromptu concert taking place in Dave’s garage.
Justine Weeks: Justine Weeks; Delacourte high’s resident goddess is probably out of Steven’s league. In fact I’m not sure she even knows who he is, but that doesn’t stop him from lusting after her almost constantly
Jill Jensen: Although Steven keeps lusting after Justine, Jill Jensen is the girl he really gets to know. Jill seems to be having some sort of a permanent identity crises and Steven somehow missed her transition from the girl with the pigtails and the Strawberry Shortcake lunchbox to full blown vampire queen. It was as if Jill woke up one day burned all her normal clothes, walked into an occult bookstore or mortuary in her pajamas and said, “Transform me, I am short of cash but I do have two pints of blood here in my backpack. What sort of look can I get in exchange?”
Ricky Stevenson: Ricky Stevenson is the 1960’s rock star that Steven idolizes. Steve would do anything to meet Ricky an impossible task since the mysterious icon was last seen in 1964.
Jamie Underwood: Jamie was the original drummer for the band Ricky and The Sleepers. Once Ricky disappeared he renamed the band and took over duties as the lead singer. Unfortunately the new band was a bust and was subsequently dropped from its label. If you believe all the Hollywood gossip, Underwood has had a chip on his shoulder ever since.
Bob Stevenson: As the president of Ricky Stevenson Enterprises Ricky’s father Robert has become very wealthy from the royalties from the products associated with the image of his missing son.
Locker Seventeen: Okay I guess a storage space cannot technically be classified as a character but don’t you want to know what’s inside? I know I do. |
