Fifi Smith is a visual artist working in Cork, Kildare, and Dublin.

This website charts the evolution of her work from 1992 to date.

She operates her practice in three different arenas,
1. Light and shadow installations, both for gallery spaces, and outdoor installations.
2. Steel and mixed media work both large and small scale.
3. Community workshops on art & architecture and on the creativity of the individual.

Each of these is driven by the same consepts which are outlined in the Artists Statement below:-

An example of her current shadow work - 'In(ter)dependence'

Artists statement

At the core of her work are the liminal spaces in our human experience. Liminality between feeling and reason, between individuality and conformity, between waking and sleep, etc. These liminal states defy statsis. Although this is inherently unsettling, it opens so many creative possibilities. Here there are no certainties, no consensus, no assent, and so, no absolutes. And so, it is in the uncomfortable problematic area that her practice is centered.
