Frozen Fruit Salad
1/4 cup honey
1 3/4 cups water
1 (6 oz.) can frozen orange juice concentrate,
thawed
1 (6 oz.) can frozen lemonade concentrate,
thawed
4 bananas, sliced
1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple with juice
1 (10 oz.) package frozen strawberries, thawed
Mix honey into water. Add remaining
ingredients and mix. Pour into a 9x13 inch glass pan.
Freeze until solid. Before serving, allow to stand for 5
minutes.

Enriching Your Family's Health
You wouldn’t
have shown an interest in the co-op if you hadn’t at some point asked
yourself about the dangers of pesticides and other chemicals on and in
our food. There has not been nearly enough research done on the
long-term effects of those chemicals in our bodies and in our children’s
bodies. Your interest shows that you are concerned about your health
and the health of those you love. Organic produce is grown without the
use of pesticides. According to Dr. Weil, “More than 400 chemical
pesticides are routinely used in conventional farming and residues are
often present in non-organic food.” On the positive side, organic
fruits and veggies retain more of the nutrients that sustain health.
Encouraging the Community of Health Conscious Shoppers
Trying to
move away from the SAD (Standard American Diet) and toward healthful
living can sometimes be a lonely road. It is always easier to stay on
the right track when other people are there to encourage you. The co-op
is a place to make great friends who are striving for similar goals.
Supporting Your Finances
With the
cost of living such as it is, we could all use some wiggle room in our
budgets. Stores that carry organic produce are great, but often
expensive. Because of our low overhead, we can offer the same produce
at a lower price.
Preserving the Environment for Our Children
Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable
resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance
environmental quality for future generations.
