A Brief History of Litter Quality Propane Company, Inc
In 1928, Robert E. Litter owned a Shell Gas Service Station at the corner of Eastern Avenue and Seventh Street in Chillicothe, Ohio. A truck was purchased in 1932 to haul coal from Jackson, Ohio. The coal was dumped behind the Shell Station and sold by the bag or was delivered to customers at $1.25 per ton.
Around 1934, Litter purchased the Park Coal Company in Chillicothe. In 1938, an office for the company was established at our current address, 524 Eastern Ave., Chillicothe, Ohio.
Litter acquired VerKamp in 1950, providing the basis for the future, which has now grown into one of the largest family-owned, independent propane suppliers in Ohio.
In 1991 a new, state-of-the art propane storage facility was constructed on Eastern Avenue. The storage plant consists of four 30,000-gallon propane tanks. Four strategically placed satellite bulk plants are located in our marketing area to ensure quick and reliable delivery. This storage capacity, and their locations, allows Litter Quality Propane Company to secure product for its highly valued customers, thereby virtually eliminating the risk of product shortages.
The Litter Family is proud of the three generations of quality service it has provided to its customers. The Litter Family is also very proud of the fine, honest and professional staff who are available to serve your propane needs 24 hours a day.
